Illini Mattress Company, Inc. was founded in 1991 by Ed Stout, who continues to serve as our President. He was born and raised in Champaign, and he still works in the store daily, along with his wife, Jan, their two children, Kristin and Michael, and a family friend, Richard Witt.

Ed first became involved in the bedding industry in the early 1970’s while working with his brother. Beginning as a factory direct store making our own brand of mattresses, Illini Mattress has now evolved to meet the demands of more diversified customers.

While continuing to make our factory direct brand, we also carry Sealy Posturepedic (the nation’s largest bedding manufacturer), Tempur-Pedic (the Swedish mattress that conforms perfectly and eliminates pressure points), and Symbol Mattress (a value-priced line). We also have a wide variety of bedroom furniture and headboards, futons, waterbeds, mattress pads, pillows, sheets, and comforters.

Illini Mattress Company makes crib mattresses, custom-size mattresses and specialty mattresses. We also carry electric adjustable beds. Please see the Products section for a complete listing of our products.
